Beautiful Spring Day Railfanning Pacific Missouri

Friday was such a beautiful day here - 71 degrees and not a cloud in the sky - so I ran down to Pacific, Missouri (about 6 or 7 miles west of home in Ballwin, and calls itself “Train Town USA”) and caught four trains in the span of fifty minutes....

Union Pacific eastbound mixed freight. This the old Missouri Pacific line, and the same rails I've been shooting the past couple of weeks, just three or four miles east. This is at MP 28.

Railfanning Eureka in The Snow

Went to Eureka looking for snow pictures. Not much snow, and what there was, was dirty snow. Here are four shots from the trip. A good afternoon at Eureka. Enjoy....
Not to be outdone, just minutes later the BNSF local came by, west bound. Here, the two tracks run parallel, about 50 feet apart. They split in downtown Pacific (about two miles in front of this train), with BNSF (the old Frisco) going on to Springfield, and the UP (the old MoPac) proceeding to Kansas City.

Missouri Railfanning with Bill Linson

Railroad friend Hank Kraichely and I went looking for trains. Found some. The first two shots are at Dozier Crossing, about two miles east of downtown Pacific, plus two more shots in Pacific. Rounding out this collection are three more local trains I have shot the last couple of weeks...

Spring Railfan Trip to Cresson and The Horseshoe Curve

Just back from our Spring Railfan trip to Cresson and the Horseshoe Curve area. Weather was atrocious, but had a good time with railroad friends at the Station Inn. Weather hampered photography, but here are five of the better ones in the seven days we were there. Enjoy!...
Monday morning, we awoke to a snowstorm ... on April 23rd! Amtrak's Pennsylvanian headed east.

Railfanning the Horseshoe Curve Area
