Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 Consolidation

Bachmann 2-8-0 Consolidation, HO Scale Model Railroad Locomotive Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 Consolidation

"Plug and Play" install with Soundtraxx DSD-B280LC

Soundtraxx DSD-B280LC DCC decoder in Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 Consolidation

The DSD-B280LC is specifically designed for installation in the Spectrum Consolidation and Light Mountain.  It directly plugs into the 8-pin socket in the tender.  Soundtraxx provides a step by step instruction sheet for this process with each decoder.  The built-in speaker has excellent volume and sound quality with no modifications to the tender; volume can be further improved by drilling small holes in the coal load.  This is the easiest steam locomotive sound decoder installation.

Almost "Plug and Play" install with TCS TH150DP

On the top of the TCS TH150DP decoder is a part with a marking of "8.00". This part is used to orient the decoder in relation to the locomotive's cab during installation.

Modification to circuit board capacitor in Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 Consolidation for DCC decoders, Photo courtesy of Train Control Systems Bachmann has a capacitor across the motor circuit that drastically effects the speed curve when using a quiet drive decoder. It causes an over speed problem. It must be removed from the circuit. Do this by simply cutting one lead of the capacitor and bending it out of the way. The capacitor is typically yellow and usually has a marking of 105.

  • 14/28/128 speed steps, extended addressing, advanced consisting
  • 1.3 amps, quiet drive, dither, function remapping
  • Five functions (each rated 125ma), Special lighting effects
  • OPS, Direct, Paged, Register and Bit Manipulation programming
  • NMRA medium 8 pin plug, 0.845"x0.68"x0.165"
