Saint Louis Sporting Attractions

Baseball: Housed in the beautiful Busch Stadium, the St. Louis Cardinals boast 35 Hall of Fame members, 15 league titles and 9 world championships since 1926.

Basketball: A charter member of the Great Midwest Conference, the St. Louis University Billikens.

Football: Football returned to St. Louis as the NFL Rams opened the new Edward Jones Dome at the America's Center. The arena football team, the Stampede, plays at the Savvis Center.

Hockey: Housed in the newly renovated Savvis Center, the St. Louis Blues Hockey team proves to be a yearly contender for the NHL championship.

Gateway International Raceway: Drag racing every weekend, and home to NASCAR's newest oval. Motorsports second to none. Four miles east of downtown.

Soccer: Affiliated with the National Professional Soccer League, the St. Louis Ambush plays 20 games from late October through April.

Tennis: The St. Louis Aces, professional team tennis, plays in Forest Park during mid-summer.

Horse-racing: Just 10 minutes east of downtown, the Fairmont Park Race Track offers thoroughbred and harness racing with pari-mutual wagering.

Golf: St. Louis offers over 73 competition quality golf courses such as the Spencer T. Olin Community Golf Course designed and managed by Arnold Palmer and recognized as one of the top 100 public courses in America.

  • Cottonwood (9 holes, par 36, cut from a hardwood forest)
  • Gateway Links LLC (18 holes)
  • Lakewood (9 holes, rolling par 34)
  • Spencer T. Olin (host site of the 1999 USGA public links championship)
  • Quail Creek (18 holes, challenging par 72 designed by Hale Irwin)
  • Tapawingo National (27 championship holes designed by Gary Player)
